Help please!

Post by Arby on Wed Oct 29, 2008 2:57 am

Yesterday I found out a friend of mine has Breast Cancer. She is starting Chemo in 3 weeks and I am going to do a mini album for her that has space for journalling and photos but I wanted to include some inspirational quotes for her as well. Any suggestions or web pages would be of a great help.
She is determined to beat it... She told me she does not have time for all this plus she has 2 kids one the same age as Amy and the other is 15. She is not very much older than me so it is a bit of a shock.

So sorry to hear that Arby. It must be awful for her. I can't imagine what it must feel like to be so young and facing everything that must lie ahead. I don't know of any sites or quotes but there must be a wealth of info and inspirational sayings available that would be a comfort. That's wonderful that you are going to do an album for her, and I'm sure it will be treasured by her. Good luck in finding what you're looking for. Thinking of you too as it can be difficult facing this as a friend as well.

Sorry to hear this Arby! I hope and pray all goes well for your friend. You feel so helpless when this happens to someone (I had a friend last year diagnosed with Breast Cancer). She has finished treatment and is now stronger than ever.

Here is a site which may help in your search for some quotes and inspiration:

Oh Arby, that is dreadful news.. Hoping that her treatment, is not too harrowing for her.
You could also contact the Breast Cancer Association and they may know of some books, quotes etc, that they could tell you are good..

One evening a Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 wolves inside of us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"
The Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I found this and it really sums up how we should all veiw life...

Thanks ladies...
Yeah I don't know how she is coping as well as she is. I think I would probably be a bit of a mess. Feeling sorry for myself and panicking! She holds herself with such grace and dignity... puts me to shame.

Thanks for the links I will go and have a look!

hey arby i have just seen this, and my heart goes out to your friend...
how is she now?? i do hope she is doing as well as she can..
there is a lot of help available now for breast cancer with all the publicity from well known ladies who have had this disease, but still the journey is very personal and at times you can feel so alone, and it is you who it is affecting, it is you who is getting the treatment, and you who is hearing the doctors voice as he tells you how you are going.. (i had thyroid cancer, not as nasty but still quite trumatic with operations and treatment.)
i do hope things are going ok..
some sites i go to are..
www.worldof quotes.com
quotegallery.com
inspirationpeak.com
quotegallery.com
quoteland.com
scrapbook.com/poems
poemhunter.com
terimartin.com
annabelle.net

these are just a few.. havent been on them in a while, so not sure if they will have what you are looking.for...
