Kids paying board?
does anyone on here charge their kids board?
When I had my first job (24 years ago) I was only earning $110 a week and paying my mum $50 so it seems a bit weird that is what I'm charging my kids (they earn 3 to 4 times that amount)
Just wondering how much (if any) others are "charging" their kids and if so, do they still do chores??
my 3 teenagers are driving me CRAZY at the moment!!!!

Re: Kids paying board?
lol...i should print this out for them...they dont make a fuss about the amount..just about doing anything else to help out..it has so far taken my daughter over an hour to fold up half a basket of washing...they are asked to do the dishes one night a week and keep their rooms clean..and they dont do either... I buy the food, i cook it, either i or their brother does the dishes, i wash their clothes, hang them out, fold them up and put them away...and they act like the end of the world when they are asked to do something,,and i usually end up doing it anyway......grrr lol (i think EVERYONE thinks coz Im a SAHM I have nothing better to do than clean up after all six of us..lol)

I think they must confuse the phrase SAHM with SLAVE lol...Stella gets pocket money $5 per week but she must tidy up the toy area (which somedays I well and truly I could be charged with child abuse/cheap labour lol and she has to make sure her room is tidy plus tidy up the bathroom after she finishes her shower and the girls there bath, not much just towel and clothes up off the floor and she is only 9 so perhaps get them to read that lol...goodluck

Re: Kids paying board?
OK I have a little advice for you. Take what you want from it..... Tell them they don't have to pay board... Or help around the house. But they will pay an equal share of all the bills. divide it 6 ways and tell them their amount. Buy their own food and cook it. Then do their own dishes, washing etc. I bet then they will see how much you do for them and how well off they are!!
Good luck teenagers are heaps of fun!!!!
